Description
A bioactive formula with 5-HTP and vitamin B6 to support normal nervous system function. 5-HTP (Five Hydroxy Tryptophan) promotes sleep and helps to relax. It is also known as the tranquilizer. In fact, supplementation with tryptophan allows your brain to produce enough serotonin on its own. This allows you to sleep better, sleep deeper and wake up rested and without feeling dull, as can be the case with chemical sleep aids. Better sleep patterns also mean that more growth hormone is produced by your body. Your body therefore recovers better from an intense workout.
Where does 5 HTP come from?
The base is Griffonia simplicifolia. This is an herb, disguised as a shrub. The plant, which can grow up to three meters tall, is found mainly in the West African countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo. Locally, people use different parts of the plant. In the West, for now, we are mainly interested in the seeds from which 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) can be extracted. 5-HTP is the building block of serotonin which in turn can be converted into the hormone melatonin. Griffonia simplicifolia is also known as sleeping cap herb.
Neurotransmitter serotonin
The neurotransmitter serotonin is produced in our bodies to support normal nervous system function. This promotes sleep and helps to relax. With better and deeper sleep, more growth hormone is also produced. Your body will also generally recover faster and better after busyness (stress) and intense exercise, among other things. Serotonin is an essential neurotransmitter involved in many different processes in our body that are regulated by our brain. To produce this neurotransmitter, we need the amino acid L-tryptophan. We get this through our diet including bananas, pumpkin seeds, chicken and turkey. To turn L-tryptophan into serotonin, it must first be transformed into 5-HTP. Due to certain conditions, this transformation can be laborious. For example, due to the lack of important co-factors, competition with other amino acids, certain disease states or high cortisol levels due to stress. All in all, on average only one percent of L-tryptophan from our diet is converted into serotonin. By taking 5-HTP directly, rather than L-tryptophan, we bypass this, possibly slow and not always successful, step in serotonin formation. 5-HTP easily crosses the blood-brain barrier and therefore can also be converted to serotonin faster in the brain.
Suitable for maintaining normal brain function
Griffonia simplicifolia plays a role in the functioning of the brain and may therefore be helpful for individuals who need additional support.
Do not use with certain medications
Before using Griffonia simplicifolia, consult an expert. This is because caution is advised when taking medication. Do not use Griffonia simplicifolia in combination with medications that affect brain metabolism such as antidepressants and sedatives. Avoid use during pregnancy and lactation
