Dry and chapped lips

Dry lips?

Chances are that when it's winter you suffer from dry lips. The cold, inclement weather does the lips no favors. The result: annoying skin on the lips and sometimes even cracks. Apart from the fact that it doesn't look pretty, cracked lips can be painful. As a reaction, you almost automatically lick your lips. And that's exactly what you shouldn't do. What should you do?

Greasing regularly is especially wise in cold weather but also during sunny and windy weather, lips are extra sensitive to cold and dryness because they do not contain sebaceous glands.

It is true that some flavored or scented lip balms cause irritation. Such a lip balm perpetuates the problem of dry lips and so you keep smearing.

What is a clown mouth?

A clown mouth is recognized by red, scaly skin around the lips. It results from prolonged licking of the lips. The enzymes in the saliva cause the skin to dry out. In addition to this, the water contained in the saliva evaporates on the lips and takes water from the lips during this process, resulting in even drier lips.

How do I care for my chapped or dry mouth corners?

Dry lips are sometimes accompanied by chapped or dry corners of the mouth. Again, of course, it is important not to moisten the corner of the mouth with saliva.

Try not to pick at skins on your lips. That picking is another cause of dry lips and chapping.

Many swear by using Obvious Cream Kids.

Obvious Cream: Apply well several times daily during the day plus at night before bed.

Do not remove the skins on the lips! This is because it causes cracks and chaps. The motto is to lubricate well. If you have a clown mouth, apply a good layer of skin around the lips and on the lips themselves several times, even after the problem has been solved.

Disinfects, cools, soothes, pain relieves, combats swelling.
For adults, children and babies with chapped or dry lips and/or corners of the mouth, we recommend only the Obvious Cream Kids.
