Burns

There are different types of burns of different degrees:

First-degree (superficial) burns.
These are the lightest burns you can get and affect only the epidermis. Burned skin is red, slightly swollen, painful, dry and has no blisters. Lightly sunburned skin is an example of this. Long-term tissue damage from these burns is rare.

Second-degree burns (burn blister).
In a second-degree burn, the epidermis and part of the underlying dermis are damaged. These burns are often caused by scald or flame burns. The burn is red, swollen, painful and has blisters. Because blisters form, a second-degree burn is often called a burn blister.

Third-degree burns
Third-degree burns destroy the epidermis and dermis. These types of burns can even damage subcutaneous tissue, bones, muscles and tendons. The skin may look white or black in a third-degree burn. There is no feeling in that area because the nerve endings are affected.

It is possible for a person to sustain multiple types of burns at the same time.

Severe burns require immediate medical attention. This is because it can help prevent scarring, disability or disfigurement. Burns on the face, hands, feet and genitals can be particularly severe.
If you or someone else sustains a burn at your home, it is important to immediately hold the area for at least five minutes of parent cold water. You can also submerge the area in a tub or bucket filled with cold water.
Always avoid using ice directly on a burn, as it has the opposite effect on relieving pain. The cold temperature will cause your skin to burn even more.
Special care should be taken to clean a burn. If you have blisters, make sure not to break them.

Lots of people tell us they benefit from using:

Obvious Cream for burns in the kitchen as long as the skin is not damaged as in a second-degree burn. Apply the cream several times in quick succession until the pain disappears, then two or three times daily until no longer visible. Commonly used during sunburns both in adults and small children.

Obvious Cream: Disinfects, cools, soothes, relieves pain, combats swelling.
You can apply this several times a day to adults and children (10 years and older).

For adults who are less tolerant of essential oils, children under the age of 10 and babies, we recommend the Obvious Cream Kids.
